Gené Henderson, LAC, MAC, SAP

Gené is a native of Kansas where she graduated High School in 1975. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Science in 1979, and a Master Degree of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from the Emporia State University in 1980, followed by a Masters of Art in 2009 from North Central University. She is also a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), Masters Addiction Counselor (MAC), and a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP). Her specialty is chemical dependency, rules and regulations regarding federal standards.

Gené Henderson began her career in 1979, as Director of Youth Services at Riverhill’s Treatment Ranch in Arkansas City, Kansas. She relocated to Colorado Springs in 1987, and became employed at Penrose Hospital, which is a part of Centura Health at Profile EAP. Gené dedicated nineteen years of hard work to Profile EAP, a full service Employee Assistance Program. During this time she developed and implemented drug free programs for numerous organizations, including Colorado Springs Utilities, Penrose Hospital, Academy School District twenty, Faricy Boys Dealerships, and other businesses, schools, and organizations. In 1999, she was awarded the State of Colorado Drug Testing contract and maintained it for a period over six years. In 2001, the Colorado Springs Business Journal voted her ‘Dynamic Woman of the Year’.

Finally in 2006, Mrs. Henderson founded her very own business and opened the doors of this company in January, 2007. Gené has a remarkable sum of 30 years experience in the substance abuse arena and mental health field. Mrs. Henderson participated, prepared, and supervised the development of drug and alcohol policies throughout the State of Colorado. Gené Henderson  also implemented procedures, training, and testing for local businesses; including Penrose St. Francis Health Services, the City of Colorado Springs, Colorado Springs Utilities, Academy School District Twenty, and Pepsi Lane Sales. A significant part of these responsibilities included performing Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) services in conjunction with professional counseling through respective EAP Programs.

Aaron Henderson, LPC, NCC

Cheif Operations Officer

Aaron holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado and a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. Aaron recently completed his doctoral coursework for a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision, also from the University of Northern Colorado.

Prior to joining the Henderson Consulting and EAP Services team he spent six years counseling at-risk adults and juveniles around the state of Colorado. Aaron served as Executive Vice President and Part Owner of the Perklen Center for Psychotherapy in Greeley, Colorado. In addition to his work with at-risk populations, Aaron has extensive experience in working with individuals, groups, couples, adolescents, and adults who seek counseling for various presenting concerns.

Throughout the process of counseling and building relationships Aaron often draws from his experience in participation in athletics to create metaphors and connect with clients. When asked about working with clients Aaron adds

As the great Muhammad Ali once stated, "Service to others is the rent we pay for our room here on Earth." I believe I was put on this Earth to support and enhance the lives of others. Henderson Consulting provides a platform for me to do so while granting me the opportunity to learn and grow from each interaction with clients. Watching clients succeed and conquer various obstacles is one of my greatest joys. If I'm not working, you'll find me on a golf course, pumping iron, watching football, singing, or dancing. Spending time with family and friends fuels my soul and I'm blessed to have both in close proximity.

In addition to counseling, Aaron is a teacher, coach, public speaker, and researcher. He enjoys attending conferences and taking part in experiential learning activities that focus on various aspects of social justice.

Theresa Swanson, LCSW

Mental Health Therapist

Theresa is a 2004 graduate from Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois where she earned a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology.  She went on to pursue a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, graduating in 2011.  Living the nomad lifestyle Theresa has been a Licensed Master Social Worker in Kansas, a Graduate Social Worker in Alabama, a Licensed Master Social Worker in New York, and a Licensed Social Worker in Colorado.

Theresa has worked in early childhood and educational settings since 1998.  She began her career in Early Childhood Education by working in day care and preschool, and as a nanny.  This experience rooted the foundation of her beliefs that children learn best through play, this is the approach she incorporates into her therapeutic approach today. 

In 2009 Theresa began graduate school in Topeka, Kansas.  Her first internship was with The Department of Children and Family Services, formally known as Social and Rehabilitation Services Department of Families.  This experience taught Theresa a great deal about community resources available to families, thus began her love for finding and connecting families to those resources.  Her second internship was with USD 475 with the majority of her time spent at Fort Riley Middle School, but she also served a few students at Grandview Elementary, and Larry Dixon Center for Alternative Studies.  Theresa worked with students and families with a variety of educational and social needs; working on IEP’s, 504 plans, social skills groups, classroom observation/ plans/ and interventions, and finding community resources for children and families. 

In 2012 Theresa was hired to be the director of a Montessori Preschool that was about to begin its’s second year of operation, where she served as the first professional director of the school.  Then her nomad lifestyle took her on the road again moving several times before working with Military Child Education Coalition as a Parent to Parent Trainer in upstate New York. 

In the fall of 2016 Theresa and her family moved to Colorado Springs and she began working at Henderson Consulting &EAP Services in February 2017.  She has never lived in a Mountain community and is enjoying the outdoors and gorgeous winter weather Colorado is providing in her first year here. 

Nicole Robles, LPC

Mental Health Therapist

Nicole Robles received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO in 2003. She went on to pursue a master’s degree in Community Counseling at The University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, from which she graduated in 2006. She has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2009.

Nicole did her graduate internship with Pikes Peak Family Connections, providing parenting education, marriage counseling, and play therapy. Following graduation from UCCS, she spent seven years working at Griffith Centers for Children, a residential treatment facility for adolescents. Nicole has extensive experience helping individuals with anger, violent/destructive behaviors, depression, anxiety, and loss work through core issues impacting their current lives and relationships. She has utilized wilderness and experiential activities in team building and staff development settings, as well as therapeutically to challenge clients to overcome personal barriers to success. Nicole is passionate about whole life wellness, exploring sense of identity and purpose, and helping clients find physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health.

Nicole is a Colorado native, avid Broncos fan, and terrible skier. Outside of work, she loves camping, canoeing, road trips, eating great food, home brewing, and spending as much time as she can with her family and her very spoiled dog.

Veta Stock, LFMT

Employee Assistance Program Therapist

Veta is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist as well as a Licensed Professional School Counselor, who will serve as one of the Employee Assistance Program Therapist.   In that role, she will be available to employees for confidential counseling sessions to include individual, group, and family therapy.  She has 25 years of professional experience that includes work with children, youth, families, domestic violence victims, psychiatric in-patients as well as sex abuse investigations. 

Veta’s strengths lie in her diversity of experience as well as her ability to quickly form a positive therapeutic alliance with clients.   Veta is passionate about providing excellent customer service and supporting her clients through challenging life experiences. 

Carrie Crandall

Mental Health Therapist

Carrie Crandall has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Elmhurst College, Elmhurst Illinois.  She earned her Master Degree in Psychology from Saybrook University in San Francisco, California in 2005. Carrie has received post graduate training in the areas of Sexual Dysfunction, Divorce Mediation, Sandtray Therapy, and Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.  She is a Licensed Professional Counselor with the State of Colorado since 2012 and the State of Illinois since 2007.

Carrie brings over twenty years of combined experience in teaching in higher education, advising, training, coaching and counseling. In addition, she has experience serving on the Board for Licensed Professional Counselors for the Department of Professional Regulation for the State of Colorado.

Areas of expertise include women: personal growth and development of self. Grief and loss,  life transition, martial, domestic violence, sexual assault, sexual dysfunction, sexual identity, sexuality, self-esteem, marriage, divorce, child custody, conflict resolution, job change, identity issues, self-transformation, brain injury, veterans and their families, anxiety, depression, aging, self-care, illnesses including Alzheimer’s, transplants, cancer and AIDS, homelessness, life coaching, college planning, goal setting, suicide, LGBT, and parenting.

When she’s not working she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, gardening, cooking, traveling, and exploring new views. Carrie enjoys exploring spirituality, learning, understanding new perspectives. She has spent a great deal of her life advocating and educating for peace and helping those who are oppressed.

When thinking about her work with clients Carrie offers: “I do not have the answer to your life; after all it’s your life. I will try to help you get to where you want to be or help you figure out where that place is if it’s not your present.  I can help you understand where you are now and help you map out the direction of what you want your life to look like.”

Lois Butler

Intern

Lois Butler received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Colorado Christian University, Lakewood Colorado in 2015.  She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in counseling at Colorado Christian University. 

Before pursuing her counseling degree and internship at Henderson Consulting & EAP Services, Lois retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years of honorable service.   Since retiring, Lois has worked as a sales associate and manager in retail.  Additionally, she has lead grief support recovery groups for over 11 years.  It was through all the interactions she had in the military, retail and grief recovery that inspired Lois to pursue a career in counseling.  She enjoys helping others communicate better in order to resolve interpersonal conflict in their lives.   She is also passionate about helping people discover and develop practical solutions, with a holistic perspective, to the problems they encounter in life.

Outside of school and work, Lois enjoys spending time with her family, reading, watching movies, shopping, and preparing and eating great food. 

Desiree Nadeau

Intern

Desirée holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with Walden University. She also holds a license as a Registered Psychotherapist with the state of Colorado.

Before pursuing her graduate degree in counseling and internship at Henderson Consulting & EAP Services, Desirée worked in outpatient community mental health and integrated care as a Case Manager and Skills Development Specialist; she also has experience in crisis services. In those roles, she specialized in helping clients develop skills to cope with various symptoms, including anxiety, depression, and psychosis. Additionally, she helped clients with smoking cessation, nutrition, relationship skills, conflict resolution, self-care and chronic pain management. Desirée still works in the mental health field outside of Henderson Consulting & EAP Services in crisis services.

Desirée operates from a holistic perspective, utilizing evidenced-based practices, and enjoys helping people reach their individual goals toward healing and personal growth. She values and integrates authenticity, genuineness, openness, and a non-judgmental approach and enjoys helping people from all walks of life.

Outside of school and work, Desirée enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking 14,000ft mountains, being outdoors, traveling and exploring new places, art, photography, and making people laugh. 

Dawn Zink

Intern

While working as a Behavior Analyst with children with autism for the last 10 years, I found that the parents, siblings, extended family, and caregivers needed support also. I chose to continue my education and work towards my Masters of Arts in Counseling Education and Clinical Mental Health. I want to provide counseling and support to children, parents, students, adults, and anyone that needs someone to listen to their story and support change for a positive present and future. I have a BS in psychology from Colorado State University, Go Rams. I also attended University of Northern Texas certification program in behavior analysis. I am in my final year at Adams State University and am excited to have begun my new life in the counseling world.

Pamela Miller

Business Manager

Pam has over 15 years of experience in management and process improvement.  She has worked in the capacity of Customer Service Supervisor and Production Manager, which duties included supervising up to 70 employees, improving processes and productivity, and implementing new production capabilities and technologies.  Both roles have helped her to realize the importance of satisfying both internal and external customers.  

At HCEAP, Pam is the Business Manager, which oversees front office operations to include scheduling, managing drug screen testing, and production of training materials. As Business Manager, she will ensure that all clients receive the best service possible.

Pam holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Tougaloo College.

Rose Bulger

Office Coordinator

Rose is the Office Coordinator at Henderson Consulting & EAP Services; providing front desk reception, scheduling of clients, and providing administrative support for the Henderson Consulting & EAP Services owner and staff.

Rose has held various Office Support, Safety, and Configuration Management positions over the last 20 years. Her experience includes front desk reception, scheduling, data management, and employee development. She knows the importance of confidentiality and providing compassionate customer service. She strives to provide a safe and comfortable environment for each client as they arrive for their session.

Henderson Consulting and EAP Services has combined Staff Customer Service and Clinical Experience totaling 129 years.
